The Gasping Ape Creature Design

The terrifying gasping ape in its rendered finish.

This was my very first idea. I swear it's not the beast titan. I've been terrified of the idea of apes that look like this because it's how a local tale of supernatural bigfoot of ours is described here in Indonesia.

So then I made this, but it looked a bit too chimp-like. Nothing wrong with that, but I needed to make a statement, and to do that I had to scrap this.

So I made this version that looked more human, but not quite neanderthal.

I needed to give it "exposrd human teeth", so I had to give it a smile. In my opinion, sincere-looking genuine happiness type of smiles on a non-human creature is much more terrifying than a grimmace or rage.

I finally was able to merge the more ape-like concept with a more human-like one, that didn't quite look like the beast titan.

After the portrait was done, the rest was easy. I already had this plan to make it look all shaggy and matted, filthy, sickly, and disgusting. This part of the design just came out very easily, unlike the portraits.

This is a closeup of its tumours, which it uses to find prey and stun them with electricity once it gets a hold of you.
